The Lifestyle Edit is a blog series featuring some recent highlights of my day-to-day life. Hopefully, you’ll still find inspiration and relatable content through this blog series. If not, let’s still celebrate life and the everyday victories we face.
Birthdays & Celebrations
This month’s Lifestyle Edit is about birthdays and celebrations.
If there’s an important lesson I learned, it’s to enjoy life now. You never know what will happen in the future, so live life where you’re still working towards your goal while experiencing some level of fulfillment.
In my previous role, senior leadership created a workplace culture where work prioritized personal life. The C-level executive set the example by working late hours and having meetings on the weekends, resulting in her neglecting her family. Unfortunately, a tragedy took place that heavily impacted her family’s trajectory.
Separately, my manager at the time called me after work one time, telling me to cancel my SoulCycle appointment because work prioritizes my health and to help a team member who dropped the ball on his own project. I always put in 150% of my effort during working hours. What is the point if that’s not enough?
I’ve been a corporate workhorse through my 20’s. I’m still a high performer, but I learned to establish boundaries. Work is not my life, but I am willing to work to live a lifestyle. Be present for yourself and your loved ones while you still have the chance.
Sometimes, people can be tunnel-visioned in their careers, thinking it’s a short-term sacrifice for long-term benefits. If the plan doesn’t come to fruition, then what? If it does, then congratulations on winning big. It depends on the risks and rewards you’re willing to take.
These events transformed my perspective on work and life. Enjoy celebrations like birthdays because you never know. Do what you can.
Dirty Thirty at Black Gold Golf
I had an intimate outing at Black Golf Golf to celebrate my 30th birthday! We had the most fun out here, and I am thankful for the ladies for coming out to play a fun game of golf!
The OG Blogger
I still remember finding Eena’s blog through a mutual years ago, and I was so excited to find a blogger who lived so close to me! We finally met, had more meals together, went to Eena and Chris’ wedding, and went to Italy together! After a long day of golf, I was so happy to meet Eena and Chris for sushi at X-Fish Izakaya.
Birthday at DeBell Golf
We got to celebrate Erika’s birthday last week at DeBell Golf in Burbank. 18 holes on a sunny summer day is not a joke!
Birthday at Barry’s and Raffi’s
Barry’s Bootcamp has been an important part of my life the past year because not only did I get closer to my wellness goals, but I also found some friends along the way. We celebrated Marlo’s birthday at Barry’s in the morning, then had lunch at Raffi’s Place in Glendale. Raffi’s place is amazing – the serving size is so huge that you have enough food for practically three meals.
Thankful
I am thankful for the relations formed over the years and months. We’ve had at least a moment of fun, but if the vibes continue to make sense, we’ll have more fun moments. I love hearing about the wins and will be there for the struggle. But we’ll celebrate milestones.
Thank you for being part of this lifestyle edit.
