Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is the main theme park of the resort, featuring Cinderella’s castle right in the middle, with areas of interest including Main Street, Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, and Adventureland. Every time you go into a different part of the park, you’ll feel submersed in the theme, like you’re in a whole different “land”. Magic Kingdom is 107 acres, whereas Disneyland covers 85 acres. You’ll expect a lot more walking, and with Magic Kingdom being a lot bigger, the illusion of the crowd not being as “crowded”.
Tron Lightcycle Power Run
Tron is Tomorrowland’s latest attraction since April 2023, with guests having to use the My Disney Experience App to enter a virtual queue. Once you have your boarding group and it’s time, head on to Tron, and start waiting in another line (but physically). It can take another hour before you actually get into the storage facility where you stow your belongings away. Place your items in, tap your Disney Park card, and REMEMBER the locker number. It’s recommended that you also store your phone and headwear (hats and ears) away if you don’t have pockets. When you’re ready, the ride is basically simulating Tron motorcycle, where you have to hold on to the handles.
The ride was fun, but fairly short. You’ll do one short loop inside and out, and that’s it. This is literally a one-minute ride. It’s 60 seconds from the time you start to deceleration.
Security at the Disney World Resort
Disney World deployed “advanced security systems” that allow guests to walk through freely without the cast members having to check every single bag, zipper, and crevice. There will be times when they pull random or flagged individuals aside for a thorough search, but going through the security check-in was a BREEZE compared to Disneyland in California. This is great for alleviating the crowd.
Magic Kingdom Attractions
Despite being at the park for the entire day, we went through a few rides. It’s great that we had a planner who has been to Magic Kingdom multiple times and curated specific rides for our group. The Small World ride is a lot better at Disneyland. We can skip it at Magic Kingdom.
- People Mover: This is a fun sit-down and chill ride that takes you around Tomorrowland. This is the perfect attraction if you want to close your eyes for a bit (especially after lunch).
- Haunted Mansion: Similar to the experience in Disneyland. The Haunted Mansion is an iconic classic.
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: This ride can only be found at the Magic Kingdom and Shanghai Disneyland Park. Expect this ride to be more popular, as we waited for 90 minutes. Be prepared to figure out entertainment for your party to kill time. Towards the end of the ride, you’ll see a ton of hair hands to the left. There’s no deeper meaning other than people doing it for fun.
- Pirates of the Caribbean: Based on the movie, the ride reflects pretty much the same idea as the one in California. Although, there isn’t a big drop in the end.
- Space Mountain: The notable difference between Magic Kingdom’s version is that the ride actually climbs a higher elevation (180 ft vs 118ft). Disneyland’s version is smaller due to limited spacing but makes up for a slightly faster and longer ride.
Be Our Guest
Be Our Guest at Magic Kingdom is based on Beauty and the Beast. After booking your reservation, you’ll dine in one of the three rooms: The Grand Ballroom, The West Wing, or The Rose Gallery. This restaurant provides a fixed menu experience. For $70, you can choose an appetizer, entree, and dessert. However, there is a wine/alcohol menu, which costs extra.
The Menu
Appetizers
- French Onion Soup
- Tuna Tartare
- Sweet Corn Bisque
- Mixed Greens Salad
Entrees
- Seared Pork Tenderloin
- Trout Amandine
- Grilled Filet Mignon
- Short Rib Beef Bourguignon
- Pan-Roasted Squash
- Roasted Poulet Rouge Chicken
Dessert
- Dessert Trio (Chocolate Tart / Dark Chocolate Truffle / Lemon Jam Macaron)
- Vanilla Cake and Lemon Curd
I ended up choosing the Tuna Tartare as my appetizer and the Grilled Fillet Mignon as my Entree.
The Tuna Tartare appetizer consists of dijonnaise, chopped egg, and black olive oil, with salad on the side. I enjoyed this overall.
I requested the Filet Mignon to be cooked medium rare, which did just that! It was served with mashed potatoes, haricots verts (green beans), and drizzled with sauce au poivre. I enjoyed this overall and thought I hated filet mignon this whole time. I was wrong. This has been a favorite cut.
The dessert is so cute! It’s basically the grey stuff from the movie! Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Be Our Guest. The staff were great, and the food was delicious. The whole meal did fill me up.
The unfortunate part of the restaurant was its dirty restroom. So if you can, wait until you’re outside.
Overall, Magic Kingdom is a bigger version of Disneyland. Worth going for the first time, and it can take multiple days to complete the park if you’re looking to maximize your time with all attractions!
