For delicious food with an amazing view of the city, Castaway in Burbank checks all of the boxes. Castaway is located on top of the hill, next to the De Bell Golf Course. This is the perfect restaurant whether you’re trying to dine with others on a random day or a place to hang out after playing golf (the 19th hole). This is your LA Brunch Guide to Castaway.
When you arrive at Castaway, you walk to the side of the parking lot to admire the view of Burbank below. As you enter the restaurant, you will greeted with the artificial sounds of birds chirping with a slight waterfall.
Castaway Restaurant
You have plenty of options, whether you’re looking to dine inside, on the patio, or next to the glass panes with the city view. This is a great place whether the weather is rain or shine.
However, be mindful that you’re driving up and down a steep hill, so it’s important to be cautious about driving safety. We were lucky and seated at the city-view table after playing a round of golf at De Bell.
The Restaurant Menu
Whether you’re looking for brunch, lunch, or dinner, this restaurant has a very diverse menu, whether you’re craving land, sea, and spirits. We skipped the alcohol and ordered the “Freckles” drink, which had lemonade, candied strawberry, and mint.
Love at First Sight and Glow is packed with fruits and vegetables if you’re looking for a healthier option. Unfortunately, that day, the restaurant was short-staffed and didn’t have either option. The staff were nice and did their best to accommodate a busy restaurant.
The Spread
You can build up quite an appetite after a round of golf. Ordering was difficult because there were a lot of great options, including the ribeye, seafood tower, and more.
We ordered:
- Caviar Fries: Caviar, vodka crème fraîche, crispy Yukon gold fries, and ranch.
- Cheese and Charcuterie (Small): Variety of meats (salami and prosciutto), cheeses (brie, goat cheese, etc), pear, grapes, nuts, and bread.
- Icelandic Salmon: Garlic caper butter sauce, 50/50 mashed, and seasonal vegetables.
Of course, I had to end my experience with a double shot of espresso. I enjoyed my charcuterie board, and the fries were delicious.
However, I felt as if the “caviar” was a bit misleading.
When I think of caviar, it has a very olive tone, like the ones I had at Tiffany’s. We were served fries with salmon roe and tobiko, which are classified within the “fish roe” family. Fries go best with creme fraiche.
I would love to try out other selections within Castaway’s menu. Drop by with a friend, family, or coworker, and enjoy some food and views!
