New year shouldn’t always mean new me. It can mean continue doing what I’ve been doing, but striving to be better. Being better than where you were a month, quarter, and year ago. Making continuous strides. Being okay with having some changes along the way. Overcoming any obstacles that you come across. You don’t need to wait for a new calendar year to change. You can change at any time.
For me, 2023 candidly means we’re not going to fuck around. We will eliminate negative and unnecessary energy. We will not entertain bullshit. We will have fun and keep leveling up.
Yes I Can, Yes I Will
It takes willingness and determination to achieve a goal. This is the motivational phrase we repeat to ourselves when we face something difficult.
Looking at my goals for 2022, I did well for the most part. There were some things that were out of my control. It is what it is, and I keep moving forward. We did not win a house in 2022, so we will try again in 2023.
This is what we’re protecting in 2023 with our ✨ unstoppable energy ✨
✨ Time: Your time is important to you. What you spend doing will not be recoverable. Make the most out of it. It’s okay to rest and relax. Whatever you choose to do, live happily. If you’re dreadful over something you didn’t need to partake in, skip out. I’m never ashamed of leaving a meeting if I have no positive contributions.
✨ Money: I still remember my days when I was working at a minimum wage job doing basic IT activities. I went through phases where I started spending money on things I’ve yearned for. At the same time, I made sure I met my savings goal. The past three years have been great because I’ve surpassed my savings goal multiple times over. Never forget where you started. When it comes to spending, do it where it makes sense for you and what will make you happy. Don’t go buying ten alternative things thinking you’ll be happy when you could’ve bought that one instead.
✨ Personal Space: Having boundaries is so important. Know your own limitations, and don’t let anyone tread on it. Do not be shy about saying no and turning down opportunities when you don’t see them align with your mood or energy.
✨ Personal Data: Social media is a double-edged sword. It’s great for connecting with others but could be toxic when abused. I took a step back last year and reevaluated what I really wanted to do. I took on TikTok for ad-hoc voiceover videos, but it’s not that serious. If you’re on a trip, go ahead and take that picture. You can post it later; enjoy the view now while you still can. There’s no one else to impress but yourself.
✨ Well-Being: Mental exhaustion is a thing. Take care of yourself and take time off if you can. If you have a goal you’re determined on achieving, all power to you if you choose to hustle through it. Remember to actually enjoy the benefits in the end and celebrate. Celebrate yourself, acknowledge your achievements, and remember your worth.
✨ Relationships: Surround yourself with people who respect you. Don’t be afraid to let go of people who do not have the best intentions for you or make you feel a certain way.
Have a great 2023!
