Masamitsu is a sushi restaurant tucked away in San Marino. If you’re looking for high-quality sushi and great service, definitely give this restaurant a visit. Once you square off parking on the street or in the back, the restaurant will greet you with traditional Japanese decor. The menu is very straightforward. Whether you want standard sushi, premium sushi, a cooked meal, or their special selection, you have options! If you are looking for something in particular, you can always ask. The quality of the fish at this restaurant is fresh, and I was absolutely taken away with the presentation.
The Masamitsu 15Pc Sushi Set
The 15pc sushi set comes with quite a selection of nigiri. The answer is yes, if you have specific allergies, they’ll accommodate them. I loved that the nigiri came out in bundles rather than waiting on a huge plate of all 15pc at the same time. The fish sits around for a bit, and it messes with your appetite if you’re hungry.
I’ll be honest, I got lost with the explanation of the nigiri. They all tasted amazing and have their own seasoning, whether it’s paired with a citrus-based sauce, garlic, wasabi, or whatever it is. The rice-to-fish ratio was good (even though we’re not in all-you-can-eat land).

The Masamitu Experience
The 15pc sushi set also comes with a miso soup appetizer. The price of this set varies as the menu indicates Market Price. It’ll fluctuate between seasonal fish, but expect to
I was taken aback by the giant shell presentation. How cute is this? You can never go wrong with seared nigiri. Big props when the restaurant serves deep-fried amaebi head with amaebi nigiri.
The service was relatively quick. If you have to, you can always make a reservation on Tock. The restaurant is quite accommodating, whether you’re looking for a casual meal or something for a special occasion.

The finale comes with the top favorites: sea urchin, ikura, and yellowtail. This was my first time seeing baby firefly squid nigiri, and I was actually a fan? This is a seasonal delicacy during the spring (March to June). This was nothing like the adult squid. It was soft and sweet. I was then convinced this is a legit Japanese restaurant.

I would rate Masamitsu among the top three sushi restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley, alongside Akami Sushi and Sushi Kisen.
