Joining a Ladies Golf Club can elevate your golfing experience. There are so many popping up in the greater Los Angeles area, with golf becoming more popular than ever. The question is, how do you know which ladies’ golf club is right for you? Welcome to the Los Angeles Ladies Golf Club Guide.
Why a Ladies Golf Club
Ladies do amazing things when we come together. If you’re looking for comfort, safety, female friendship, social connections, and learning, joining a ladies golf club is perfect. I’ve learned so much about life outside of golf through the amazing ladies I’ve met. I am now a year wiser.
What to Expect
Many ladies’ golf clubs have the same mission – to bring women together and enjoy a game of golf. They will host various events, including socials, networking, tee times (9-hole or 18-hole), range sessions, group lessons, and more. A schedule of events should be posted via the club’s website or social media, and see which one works best for you. You don’t have to go to all of them, just the ones that interest you.
Friendship
The most valuable benefit I’ve gained from joining the ladies’ golf club is friendship. The ladies make you feel loved and warm and give you so many things to laugh about while you’re out on the golf course.
The Demographics
Do your research on the golf club and maybe ask someone about their experience. Are you looking for a beginner-friendly group that hosts casual outings and tournaments? Does the group have a specific demographic? Does it have specific locations? These are all things to consider, especially when investing your time.
Everyone at different skill levels when it comes to golf. It’s not about being paired with someone better or worse; it’s about being paired with people whose energy vibes with you. You want to have a great time.
Budget
Golf should be accessible to everyone. It is completely okay to be on a budget, and there is a group out there that can fit your budget whether you’re looking to play quarterly, monthly, or even weekly.
Green Fees vs Event Fees
One of the popular topics guests bring up is the “event fee” – the difference between how much you’re paying for the event (i.e. outing) versus what the green fee is. It’s easy to say you’re better off booking your tee time. That’s fine as well. Usually, the club would put the price difference towards goodie bags, giveaways, other event amenities (like a drink ticket), or even an admin fee (i.e., towards marketing, website, etc.). If you’re not seeing your money well spent, it’s fine to venture out to other options. There were events in the past with a $30 upcharge, and I didn’t get anything, but I genuinely believed in the club’s mission at the time. You can question these things and make a decision based on the answer you get. But don’t expect a box of Pro V1’s through a $15 upcharge. See what’s fair. Some clubs may still be working towards getting those sponsorships to pass on to the members.
Membership
You have every right to evaluate a ladies’ golf club before committing to a full membership. Review and understand what the membership grants you; typically, a member rate for events, an official handicap profile, discounts, and other perks. Are you paying $150, $200, or $300 yearly to be a member? Do you plan on going to enough events to make it worthwhile?
It’s fine to try out a club for a year. If you do join a club, you are not tied down to that one club. You’re free to explore and join other ladies golf clubs as well. Please feel free to venture out if you have time and want to attend those outings. See if the vibe is right for you. At the end of the day, the membership fees are also an investment in your belief in what the club could be.
For Fun or For Profit
Running a ladies golf club is not the most lucrative business. It takes a lot of time, effort, and money to get the golf club running through marketing, fees, taxes, and partnerships. Really evaluate the underlying intentions. If you feel like you’re getting your money’s worth, it’s fine at the end of the day. Those goodie bags took planning and execution to get to your hands. It’s okay to support small businesses!
Dress Code
Always adhere to the golf course’s dress code. There may be times when the event recommends a specific outfit (colors), which is great if you need an excuse to shop. However, black and white is still a safe bet, or whatever colors you feel comfortable in. If you’re going as a group, you might as well participate if you can!

Where to Start
I want to start exploring ladies golf clubs in Los Angeles. Where do I start?
Ladies Golf Clubs in Los Angeles
You can look through the Southern California Golf Association’s (SCGA) website for the official list of SCGA golf clubs. The website wasn’t built with the best user experience (the filters are broken half of the time), but in the search bar, click “By Club” and start scrolling down that list. It’ll show every registered club, including men’s and co-ed.
Some ladies golf clubs include:
- Swing Sisters Golf Society
- Tropicana Girls
- Soft Life Society Golf
- Latina Golfers
- Ladies Who Golf LA
If you’re looking to just play at a home course, most golf courses have their own ladies golf clubs (i.e. Tijeras Creek Womens Golf Association – who plays at the Tijeras Creek Golf Club).
No Membership Needed
There are golf groups that do not require membership. Just purchase a ticket and show up! Two Girls & the Tee just launched in LA. I’ve been helping out with Pretty Fun Things – gorgeous outings from Pao’s creativity in event planning.
Only Golfers Women also hosts occasional women empowerment golf events – the one they hosted in October 2024 was a BIG HIT! Julie and Raven (mom and daughter) envision bringing amazing experiences to the ladies in LA.
What’s Next?
- Purchase a Ticket: Purchase a ticket to an event. Save the date.
- Arrive Early: Pad time and arrive early for the meetup.
- Meet the Ladies: Warm up, meet the ladies, and get comfortable.
- Get Assigned a Group: You’ll be assigned to a group.
- Tee Off: Enjoy the 9/18 holes!
- Have Fun!
The Actual Golf Clubs (Set)
Let the event organizers know if you don’t have a golf set. They might be able to accommodate you or direct you to resources. Sometimes, the golf course would have a golf set that can be rented out. There are also cheap used golf clubs in marketplaces such as OfferUp. You don’t need an Honma Beres 5-Star set. Start somewhere, and when you have the budget/commitment in the future, get fitted. The best thing about golf is making your golf set match your vibe. You can be a Malbon girlie and rock the Malbon golf bag. It’s okay to be a Kirkland girlie too! Never feel embarrassed. If someone makes you feel embarrassed, that is not the right group for you. That is my woman empowerment pep talk!
