From Coupe to SUV
My Lexus RC was a fun ride for my 20s. It was the best decision I made during that time. I wanted a coupe, and that scratched the itch. It did a phenomenal job of being reliable and carrying everything I needed: my golf clubs, my push cart, and my golf organizer. I loved that it is a unique car.
Now that I’m in my 30s, it’s time for a change. I haven’t had fun driving in the past couple of years and dreaded any drives that would take over an hour. I started looking around for a new car. The Lexus GX was a top contender for a while, but it’s too big and had the same performance as my Lexus RC, which made me hesitant. On top of that, its aesthetics didn’t match me. I wanted something with a completely different interior, because what is the point otherwise?
David showed me the fun in driving again through his M3 and introduced me to BMW.
The BMW X3 M50
Meet my new car: the BMW X3 M50. I’m absolutely in love with its performance, technology, comfort, sound, and sporty style. It’s not just a regular X3, as it’s loaded with the M-tuned twin-turbo inline-6 engine with a mild hybrid technology, producing almost 400hp. The styling is upgraded and features the M badge right on the grill. Its 0-60 is marketed at 4.4 seconds. It’s still a lot faster than my Lexus RC, and I love how much smoother this new ride is. I don’t need to worry about feeling every bump from the stiff sporty suspension.
The technology made a world of difference for me. A 14.9-inch touchscreen curved display with the iDrive 9 infotainment system is loaded into the BMW X3 M50. You can access all your settings, set different dashboards, and enjoy music, navigation, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. I no longer need to clip my iPhone to the ventilation for navigation! The heads-up display made a HUGE difference too (although it was an adjustment for me), so you can keep your eyes on the road while knowing your speed, and can navigate through calls and music. It is very customizable to enhance your driving experience.
The biggest game changer for me is the driving and parking assist features. The 360 camera helps with the blind spots, and additional sensors around the car that steer me back between the lanes if I happen to drift a bit out. This is amazing!!!
I enjoyed the My BMW app, which allows you to view all status and remote settings directly from your phone. You can also enter the car through its digital key on your phone. How amazing is that?! As you walk away from your vehicle, it auto locks. You can expect the same luxury experience as you approach it.
David introduced me to William Wong at New Century BMW in Alhambra, and I knew the BMW X3 M50 was the perfect ride for me during the test drive. I was already impressed by the sport mode before even turning on the sport plus mode. I knew this was the winner. The acquisition process was so smooth, and I was well taken care of. That hour drive one-way isn’t dreadful anymore. I finally enjoy driving again. The BMW X3 M50 is such a fun ride. I am absolutely in love. This was exactly what I needed for this era in my life. Not a Porsche GT3 RS. We did it, baby. We made it this far. We’re going to keep the momentum going.
